A Heart Ablaze

When worldly passions be chopped down
and roots are dried and dead,
He'll drag his holy sacrifice
to burn beside his bed.

Upon young knees he rests himself
as furnace tinder lay,
From in his heart come billowed sounds
of sins he prays to slay.

The altar red from sacrifice
as Heaven seems to sleep,
His tears and blows upon his chest
reach Heavens mercy seat.

Consuming fire lights the straw,
he lifts his hands in praise!
O, Praise the one who saved my soul,
who died and then was raised!

Within the furnace of his heart,
a fire burns within.
Though overtime that tinder fades,
he finds himself in sin.

The ember starving in the ash
with nothing left to catch,
he goes to work to till his heart,
this unkept brier patch.

Again he goes to search out wood
and prays the Lord would show.
The deadly branches of this world
are often times found low.

He cuts into the briar patch
his flesh cries out in pain,
As branches rooted in the heart
are often times our bane.

If hand or eye are cause of sin
O sinner! Do not doubt!
For better be in heaven free
than burning and without!

Upon weak knees he rests himself
to furnace tinder lay,
Within his heart come billowed sounds
of sins Christ washed away.

The altar brown from better days
as Heaven watches on,
His tears and blows upon his chest
rekindle what was gone.

Consuming fire lights the straw,
he lifts his hands in praise!
O, Praise the one who saved my soul,
who died and then was raised!

Within the furnace of his heart,
a fire burns ablaze.
Old sins attempt to pull him back,
But something now has changed.

Though worldly passions come about
he'll feed them to the flames,
That every member of his flesh
be glorified though maimed.

The Sunset comes with heart ablaze
He burnt up all this life,
Upon old knees he rests himself
to die so to have Christ.
